MOVING WALL VIETNAM VETERANS MEMORIAL

The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial visits Livonia

The City of Livonia is hosting the Vietnam Memorial Moving Wall over five days this summer. This is a half-size version of the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C., and we know it will be a poignant event for our community, as we respectfully honor more than 58,000 men and women who lost their lives for our nation. The Moving Wall Vietnam Veterans Memorial will be at Ford Field Aug. 8-12, 2019. The Wall is open to visitors 24 hours a day.

Visitors will hear volunteers read each and ring a bell for each soul lost. They will be able to look up names of loved ones and make keepsake rubbings. Numerous educational and inspirational activities will also be offered – the Eyes of Freedom traveling tribute museum, real-life war encampments, a Veterans Village offering helpful resources, military equipment displays, two USO-style performances at a nearby site and more.

The Moving Wall is:
  • A half-size replica of the original Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington D.C.
  • Engraved with the names of 58,318 men and women killed in Vietnam.
  • A place to remember and reflect.
  • It's free and open 24 hours.
